Mens’ Golf News
The monthly Scramble format was the name of the game for this week’s Mens’ Golf on Thursday evening. The players teed it up on the back nine, a par 37, in teams of four based on handicaps. The intent is to form teams with one player from each of the four handicap groupings, in order to make the teams as evenly matched as possible.
Two teams stood able the rest of the field at the end of the day, as they carded identical scores of four under par, 33. The teams were in a dead heat as far as retrogression, and so they had to share first place. Congratulations to the team captained by Louis Bezaire with Steve Santin, Jason Nissan and Don White. Equal cudoes to the team captained by Hugh Morrison with Charlie Schmalz, Don Noble and Mike Koepke.
Two other teams were only one stroke off the pace of the winners, shooting three under par 34s. But retrogression did help to break the tie, placing the team captained by Jamie Green with Bill Hatt, Jef Schell and Grant Shular in third place, with the team captained by Phil Hunt with Mike Cleary and Jim Baillie placing fourth overall.
John Upper won the closest to the Pin Competition on #13 while Don White sunk the Longest Putt on the fifteenth hole.
