The Grade 8 graduating class at Ripley-Huron Community School was honoured Monday night with a ceremony, marking the end of the students' elementary school career.

Valedictorian Brendan Rogers reminded the class of the many great years, starting in Junior Kindergarten in 2001.

He came to Ripley school in Grade 6 and has formed great friendships in the past three years.

Brendan offered some highlights from the Grade 8 grad trip, organized by teachers Barb Grubb and Dave Quinn. They went to some amazing places and had a lot of fun, even if the elevator at the Travelodge was not working.

Looking ahead, Brendan said it's only two short months before this class is entering Grade 9, and then getting jobs, and embarking on a career.

"On behalf of the graduating class, I want to thank our parents and all our wonderful teachers who instilled in us a love of learning," he said, "and to all our coaches in sports.

"To quote Albert Einstein: Logic will get you from Point A to Point B, but imagination will take you everywhere."

Also during the program, Madisson Towriss sang "Coming Home," and Victoria Kiernan sang "Think of Me."
