Is Kincardine council up for the challenge as issued by the Tiverton Fall Fair directors?

We will have to wait and see after the fall fair parade, Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Tiverton fairgrounds.

Marlene Campbell of the Tiverton Agricultural Society, threw down the gauntlet at the Kincardine council meeting last night (July 13).

The fair directors are challenging the municipal councillors to an obstacle course race on the track at the fairgrounds.

Campbell said the teams will be divided into pairs - one person will be driving a golf cart and trailer while blindfolded, and the other person must direct him/her around a series of pylons.

"Each team will have one driver and one navigator," said Campbell. "It could be all councillors or include family members or neighbours. It's all for fun and to participate in the 150th annual Tiverton Fall Fair."

She pointed out that Tiverton Agricultural Society president Jamie Convay has issued a challenge to mayor Larry Kraemer to take an active role in this event.

"I will take up that challenge," said the mayor.

"I was concerned when I thought the obstacle course would include bylaws and stacks of paper," quipped councillor Ron Coristine, "but since I've learned it's just blindfolds and golf carts, I'm in."

Most of council also agreed to take part in the challenge.

Campbell requested council send her the list of participants by Sept. 6.
