The Class of 2011 at Huron Heights Public School celebrated Tuesday night at the graduation ceremony held at the school.

Graduates paraded into the gymnasium to the piping of Brenda Colquhoun and drumming of Robert Colquhoun.

Awards and diplomas were presented.

Logan Wolfe, as valedictorian, took a few moments to reflect on the years the students have spent together - first at Elgin Market and then Huron Heights.

"This gang has changed and grown together," he said. "Who can forget Grade 1 with Ms Hageraats who taught us that learning can be fun."

He recalled when Marshall Smith came to school with pink hair which was supposed to be red.

"We were the big kids in Grade 3 at Elgin Market, and then we came to Huron Heights and we were back at the bottom of the food chain," he said. "Remember how big and scary those Grade 8s were then? Now, we're the Grade 8s."

Logan talked about Mrs. MacDonald's project of turning all the students into famous characters in her wax museum in Grade 5; and going to the Outdoor Education Centre in Grade 6 and playing survival games. "I wanted to be a wolf so badly," he said, "but I ended up being a lowly skunk."

Finally, to Grade 8 when they were at the top of the heap again, he said. The grad trip was great, despite the long eight-hour bus ride there and back, and the horrible hotel beds.

"Now, we're heading off to a new school where we'll meet new people, learn new things, and have lockers," he said, "and we'll be back at the bottom of the food chain again.

"And then after high school, no matter what we decide to do, we know that with the support of our teachers, our families and our friends, we can do anything."

The graduates sang "This is the Time of My Life," with accompaniment by guitarists Kasey Brindley and Kim Huggard, and keyboardists Morgan Baker and Maddie Duncan.
