What started out looking like rain, turned out to be a good-weather day as the Port Elgin and Southampton Rotary Clubs joined forces on Monday (July 25) at their 19th annual golf tournament held at Chippewa Golf & Country Club.

The organization holds several events throughout the year, including the tournament, to raise funds for Rotary's many projects, both locally and internationally.

This year, 104 golfers took part in the tournament which also included a dinner and silent auction in the evening.

According to John Conlin, the tournament this year raised $7,500 after expenses.  "It's down only slightly from last year," says Conlin, "but we're still very pleased."

Thomas Forsyth (12) had reason to smile as he 'cleaned up' in the prize department including two 'closest to the hole' competitions

Chippewa owner, Geza Kocsis, also had reason to smile after his team came in first with a score of 63 after a putting competition that ended a three-way tie
