Ripley-Huron Fair ambassador Dayna Simpson will be at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) in Toronto Aug. 19-21 for the 40th annual Ambassador of the Fairs competition.

More than 70 contestants, aged 18-25, will showcase their knowledge of Ontario agriculture, and be judged on poise, self-confidence and prepared speeches.

The winning competitor participates in a series of official duties during the 18-day run of Canada's largest fair, the CNE, while at the same time representing his/her individual fair and community.

The 40th anniversary of this competition underscores its significance in bringing members from rural and urban communities together,” says David Bednar, general manager of the CNE. “Each year the calibre of the competitors continues to grow, and makes it a better Ex to have the representation from 70 communities in Ontario.”

Qualifying rounds run Friday to Saturday, Aug. 19-20, with the finals on Sunday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m., at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto.
