'Tis the season for weddings and we send our congratulations to Chenise Rock on her recent marriage. She is the daughter of Mary Jane and Ron Rock. Also to Reine Arnold and Ron de Gans who were married on Saturday. There was a wedding 50 years ago and that Golden Wedding Anniversary was celebrated by Shirley and Bob Harris. Friends and family gathered at Aintree to rejoice with them. Congratulations to Ruth and Joel Greenwood on the birth of their second daughter, Gwenyth Anne. The Greenwood extended family attended her christening in Mississauga Sunday. About 80 descendants of Ada and Herb Farrell gathered at the Tiner cottage on Saturday for a fun reunion. Kim (Nother) and Brad were home from the West to enjoy all the visiting. Honoured guests were Kay (Farrell) Fraser and Ethel (Farrell) Nother. Daniel and Eric Martin and Jamie Farrell attended the 2011 Ontario Summer Show held in Lindsay last week. They brought home a few more ribbons to add to this year’s collection. Saturday, the three headed to Kingsway Farms in Hastings to attend the “Influence of Allie” Sale where the bidding went pretty high on some black-and-white, four-legged beauties! Grant Martin attended the 4-H Conference, CareerSen$e, from July 18-21, at the University of Guelph. Through a combination of tours, speakers and workshops, he had the opportunity to learn about career options, post-secondary school opportunities and to develop skills in resume and cover-letter-writing, and to hone interview skills. He also experienced life on a post-secondary campus, from living in residence to cafeteria meals and the large classroom sizes. Shirley Gilders of Clinton visited with Maureen and Roy Collins during the week. Hurray for all the workers who put on a great Garden Party Tuesday evening at the Bervie United Church. hey had a record turnout and it was so nice that the weather co-operated. Of course the music afterwards was appreciated by everyone.

Now it seems a tad too dry - but the wheat farmers are happy to be getting the crop off. This weather is a great excuse to head down to the Lake. Bette MacLeod and Tryntje Eisen enjoyed a day away. They also met up with Irene and Bonnie Boyle and had a good visit. The gals who like to tie quilts under the trees are at it again. They gathered at the homes of Mary Anne Kukoly and Diane Clifford recently. Mary Anne enjoyed supper with Joyce McEwan Thursday evening and then attended the baby shower for Jess and Norah Kelly.
