If you don't remember the groovy songs of the 1960s or if you lived through them and still can't quite remember, you're sure to enjoy the Bluewater Summer Playhouse production of "Memories of the Summer of Love." Created and directed by Chris McHarge and Colin Stewart, the show features four singers and four musicians, bringing you all the magical moments from rock and roll to folk songs as enshrined in that era. Providing stellar vocals are Colleen Aynn, Natalie Howard Grant, Paul Wilson and Derek Marshall, while making incredible music are John Kenny on bass, Duncan Grant on keyboard, Mike Ray on guitar, and Don Reid on drums. This high-energy show takes the audience on an historical, musical journey from the peace and love of The Beach Boys, Gerry and the Pacemakers and the Monkees at the start of the decade, through to the moving songs of Peter, Paul and Mary, Simon and Garfunkel, and Joni Mitchell, and finally the demand for social change in the songs of Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, and The Association, and the good time music of Mamas and Papas. It's a marvelous romp through the '60s, and the singers and musicians have such a great time on stage, the people in the audience are compelled to clap their hands and tap their toes to the music. The combination of beautiful harmony and terrific transition between songs leaves you wanting more, even as the show ends. ''Memories of the Summer of Love'' opened to an enthusiastic crowd Tuesday night at the Kincardine Arts Centre, and continues July 28-29 at 8 p.m. ,Aug. 2-5 at 8 p.m., Aug. 3 at 2 p.m. (a matinee for the Red Hat Ladies), and Aug. 6 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $24 each plus tax for evening performances, and $22 each plus tax for matinee shows; available at the box office, 519-396-5722, toll-free at 1-877-396-5722 or by E-mail at boxoffice@bluewatersp.on.ca An added feature this week, is "Vegas Knights," one night only, Saturday, July 30, at 9 p.m., featuring Derek Marshall.
