The next production in the Bluewater Summer Playhouse season is a groovy, peace-loving show called Memories of the Summer of Love.

This musical takes you back to a time of peace, love and good vibrations. The show begins with the music of the early '60s and showcases groups, such as The Beach Boys, Gerry and the Peacemakers, and the Monkees.

The mid-'60s are highlighted with songs by Peter, Paul and Mary, and Joni Mitchell. Music from Buffalo Springfield and Bruce Springfield is also included.

Moving toward 1967, songs by The Doors, Janis Joplin, The Association and Laura Nero will be heard. The show  ends with songs by the Mamas and Papas, and Scott McKenzie.

These songs were the cornerstone of the hippy movement. Hopefully, as you relive the songs and memories during this decade you will rekindle the spirit of the Summer of Love and the need for social change, even in our time.

Memories of the Summer of Love opens July 26 and runs to Aug. 6, with a special Ladies Night Out on July 27. It is sponsored by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and myFM Radio.

Tickets are $22 plus tax for matinee performances, and $24 plus tax for evening performances.
