The Chippewas of Nawash have made a decision and elected their new Chief.
Chief Scott Lee Scott Lee, who has been interim acting Chief was elected with a solid majority that put him more than 300 votes ahead of the next closest candidate. Lee succeeds Chief Ralph Akiwenzie who died in March of this year. In Akiwenzie's memory, a scholarship is being launched in cooperation of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON) and Bruce Power. Bruce Power is committing $100,000 over four years in support of students from both SON and Cape Croker. It is anticipated that an additional $35,000 will be added to the program through the annual Nawash golf tournament.
