For the second year in a row, the Huron-Kinloss recreation department is hosting free summer fun clinics, a project of the Huron Shores Lions Club. These clinics are intended for children ages 10-14, allowing them to learn key basic skills and experience sports that may be new to them. They provide youth with a foundation to build upon and continue to play volleyball, tennis and basketball as a regular outdoor experience. Local youth also get to know the facilities in their neighbourhoods which will allow them to continue to play and be active. Each participant will walk away with a brochure highlighting where they can play tennis, volleyball and basketball within the township. Participants also have the opportunity to receive some free promotional materials and win prizes. Space is limited so call Kim Reid at 519-395-2909 to register for one or all of these clinics. The first free summer clinic is Tennis Aug. 15-16, with two groups running on both days with a maximum of five participants per group, on the tennis courts in Ripley. Group A will be 10-11 a.m. and Group B will be 11 a.m. to noon. This clinic will offer lots of activities, and the basic skills. You must register to attend. Next is the Mega Hoops Basketball Clinic Aug. 17 at the basketball court in Ripley, beside the arena. This is a free three-hour clinic, beginning at 1 pm. It’s about learning the fundamental moves and participation. You must register to attend this clinic and there is a maximum enrollment of 20 participants.

To finish up the week, there is Spikes Volleyball Clinic Aug. 18, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Point Clark Lighthouse Beach
Volleyball courts. The participants will learn some skills, have some
fun, and enjoy the sandy beach courts. Maximum enrollment of 20 for this clinic and registration is required. The Huron Shores Lions Club has donated $600 toward running these clinics this year. Last year, the event was very successful. Have fun, be active and participate! Scrolling stops when you move your mouse inside the scroll area. You can click on the ads for more
