Afternoon concerts well-attended at Kincardine Summer Music Festival

The Kincardine Summer Music Festival's afternoon concert series in Victoria Park has drawn great crowds to hear some wonderful jazz music last week, and chamber ensemble and band music this week.

The free concerts, held at 4 p.m. every day of the festival, began last year and continue this year as a way to encourage more people to come out and enjoy the high-quality music and consider purchasing tickets for the evening concerts.

The festival began July 31, and runs to Aug. 13, with afternoon concerts continuing as follows:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 9 - Metis Fiddler Quartet
  • Wednesday, Aug. 10 - The Pleats
  • Thursday, Aug. 11 - The Kincardine Brass Band
  • Friday, Aug. 12 - Marc Djokic

Evening concerts are held at Knox Presbyterian Church and include:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 9 - Concert Pianist Peter Allen
  • Wednesday, Aug. 10 - Concert Violinist Marc Djokic
  • Thursday, Aug. 11 - Musica Quinta Brass Quintet
  • Friday, Aug. 12 - Sunset Serenade, with Peter Allen, Caroline Leonardelli, the Madawaska String Quartet, and Thomas Beard on Cello

Tickets are available at the Kincardine Scottish Shop in downtown Kincardine, and at Dalton Pottery in Ripley, or at the box office in Jerome Flowers, also in downtown Kincardine, call 519-396-9400.

Sponsors of the festival were also shown appreciation at the afternoon concerts. They include Ontario Power Generation, Bruce Power, Matchett Financial Services Dundee Wealth, Municipality of Kincardine, Kincardine Rotary Club, Enbridge, myFM Radio, Excel Business Systems, JAZZ.FM91, Service Canada, Best Western, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Canadian Heritage, and the Ontario Arts Council.
