An Egret and a Blue Heron, in flight, on a quiet sun-lit marsh, at the MacGregor Point Provincial Park.

Ripley's 4-H Conservation Club met on Aug. 22 to see conservation up close, in a park environment.

The day began with a short bus ride to the park, paid for by the Pine River Watershed Initiative Network (PRWIN).

Shortly after arrival, the group went for a nature walk with Tom the naturalist, on a trail near the interpretive centre. He told us about the history of the landscape and how it was formed, and the many different species of insects and reptiles that live in the park.

The remainder of the day was spent swimming in the lake and picnicking. The traditional spider dogs, cedar tea (to ward off scurvy), and s'mores, were our fare.

Elizabeth Simpson accompanied our group on behalf of PRWIN , along with a throng of parents and our fearless leaders.

Thanks to all for a fantastic day.
