The 20th annual Mass Band Festival is slated for Saturday, Aug. 27, noon to midnight, at Victoria Park, Kincardine. Volunteer organizer Norm Annetts said there will be a great variety of music in the park, plus all-you-can-eat hot dogs and corn-on-the-cob, at a cost of $6 per person. The Toronto All-Star Big Band is returning for its 18th year to perform at the event from 1-3 p.m., along with the Kincardine Community Concert Band which plays at noon, the Teeswater Pipe Band, the Ontario Fire Service Pipe Band of Orillia, the Sarnia Pipe Band, and Kincardine's own Penetangore Pipe Band, and The Pleats. The highlight of the day is the Mass Band Parade, led by the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band, beginning at 8 p.m. at Victoria Park. The parade marches along Queen Street to Quinn Plaza, and back to Victoria Park for a concert. Proceeds from the event go toward the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band and are often used to outfit new band members, said Annetts. He gratefully accepted a donation from Michelle Lamont of Enbridge Renewable Energy Infrastructure LP, through the Enbridge community grants fund. "The Massed Bands has always been a thank you to the public and to the band members for their dedication to the Saturday Night Band Parades," said Annetts.
