The Legion Fun Golf Tournament was a huge success and fun was had by all. Thank you Laura Haight for running the tournament. The kitchen staff made a delicious roast beef dinner – thanks for the excellent meal. Thank you Red Larsen and Dave Dyer for giving up your Sunday afternoon to volunteer as bartenders. Congratulations to the winning team: Woody (Paul) Widmeyer, Gord House, Marty Cayhill and Lori Ludwick. Legion Week will be held Sept. 25 to Oct. 1. It will begin with a parade with veterans riding in convertibles and there will be something scheduled every day at the Legion. A schedule of all events will be announced in the very near future. Please put this week on your calendar. Thanks to local media support, including the Kincardine Times' excellent article about the possible loss of the Legion's medical aid service, president Maureen Couture has received a number of expressions of interest in helping out with this program. She says she was thrilled with the response. A short meeting will be held with everyone who is interested, Wednesday, Aug. 24, 7 p.m., in the Red Room at the Legion, to explain what is involved and determine everyone's level of interest.
