Have you ever wished that you could tune into TV channels that you have at home here in Bruce County, when you are away?  There is an easy and inexpensive solution called Slingbox. 

What is Slingbox?  It's an inexpensive device that allows you to watch your television at home, around the house or around the world.  You can use your laptop, desktop or tablet (IPad might be slow, but Android pads are quite frisky and you can do other things too)

This allows you to never miss events shown on  Canadian or local TV.  You can take complete control of your television from St. Petersburg Florida or Russia for that matter.  The cost is about $200 to $300 and then you are in business.

An added benefit is to have more TV connections in your home.  If you don't have a TV in a guest room and your relative brings their Laptop, they can watch your TV in their room without a wired connection.

Slingbox is a set-top box that connects to your TV (or any other video-output device) and streams the signal to another machine in real-time -- there's no recording involved. This machine might be your computer or laptop  in your home, in which case Slingbox streams the signal using your home wireless network.

It might be your Web-connected laptop or cell phone located anywhere in the world, in which case Slingbox streams the data via the World Wide Web.

 You can control the video that appears on your screen just like you were watching from home. There are several types of Slingboxes, ranging from the Classic Slingbox (the original model) to the Slingbox PRO-HD.

You can control your TV viewing as if you were sitting on your couch playing with the channel changer, when in fact you are in Paris or London.

Guess what?  This is not new technology.  It's been around for years and it works well.
