Dear Editor: After serving as our MPP (Huron-Bruce) for eight years, on the eve of an election, the best Carol Mitchell could do is bring a promise to put a tender out in 2015 to expand and upgrade the Kincardine hospital site. During each of the last eight years the Liberal government has been taking as much a $900, and on average at least $600, additional health taxes from all residents of Huron-Bruce. It is not hard to do the math on this. Since taking power, Carol Mitchell's government has raised $60-million per year in new taxes from the Health Tax just here in Huron-Bruce. Why did she wait until weeks before the provincial election to make announcements on hospital improvements? Carol Mitchell was working as Parliamentary Assistant in the Ontario Ministry of Health in 2009 when Minister David Caplan resigned in disgrace over the billion-dollar e-Health debacle. She knows that if her government had not wasted billions of dollars, these hospital upgrades could have been completed by now. Mitchell says the upgrades scheduled to go to tender for 2015 won’t get done unless she is elected. Well, she had a chance during the last eight years and now another four years of waiting. Taxpayers know that promises made by Liberals prior to elections are routinely broken. Why should we think it would be any different this time? Karen Breitbach
