Kincardine council has granted permission for Community Living of Kincardine and District to plant Pinwheels for Peace throughout Kincardine.

Speaking on behalf of Community Living, Jackie McDonald told council Wednesday night (Sept. 7), that International Peace Day is Sept. 21, and the group wants to have the pinwheels in place by then.

The members of Community Living want to plant pinwheels in downtown gardens, and around the municipal hall, the Davidson Centre and in Victoria Park.

Jackie McDonald (R) of Community Living of Kincardine and District, presents a pinwheel to Kincardine mayor Larry Kraemer

"Last year, we had more than 100 pinwheels spinning," said McDonald. "This year, we want lots more to show that Kincardine values peace."

The group wants to get the local schools involved in the project, making the pinwheels and putting them all over Kincardine.

The pinwheels would be removed by Sept. 28.

Council was in full support of the project.
