Pretty in Pink presented the 'Paint the Town Pink' awards on Thursday, September 22nd. The event was a new initiative by Pretty in Pink to create community involvement. The winners received advertising packages with myFM Radio that ranged from $1,000 for 1st place, $500 for 2nd place to $250 for 3rd place. Co-ordinator/organizer Syliva Sheard said that she was amazed by community response. "There were 34 stores in Saugeen Shores that participated in the window display competition," said Sheard. "The thought and effort that went into decorating was simply astounding.| The displays were judged by Mayor Mike Smith, Pat Sanagan of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation Mammography Committee and Dylan Bartlett from myFm Radio. "It was a difficult decision," said Mayor Smith. "We saw that the businesses put a lot of thought into their displays with a wide variety of ideas. Two of the business really portrayed the "Paint the Town Pink' theme and the third one that we chose had art work by a high school student highlighted. One of the things that really impressed us were the numbers of businesses that participated ... it was a real community effort."
Sylvia Sheard (L) & Christine Kelly The CIBC bank in Southampton has also been raising funds through donations for Pretty in Pink in addition to its corporate fundraiser 'Run for the Cure' that continues through next week.

![]() Every aspect of the display by 'Like-Minded Boutique' was carefully thought out Owner of Like-Minded Boutique, Bobbie Pahl, explained that her window display had subtle references to the issues surrounding cancer. "Each part of the display was meaningful," said Pahl. "We wanted to show the beauty that lies behind the results of cancer and its treatments. The delicate head scarf after hair loss is only one part of the overall presentation." All proceeds from the Pretty in Pink campaign, that includes the upcoming gala luncheon on October 23 (2011), will go toward the Mammography Equipment fundraising campaign.
