These entries in the bale-decorating contest highlight the 148th Ripley-Huron Fall Fair this weekend, with the theme, "Autumn Hues and Harvest"

The 148th Ripley-Huron Fall Fair runs this weekend, with plenty of activities for the whole family.

Under the theme "Autumn Hues and Harvest," the fair actually begins Thursday night with a Pre-Teen Dance (Grades 5-8), 7-9:30 p.m. at the Ripley Complex.

Friday night features the Super Frog Contest at 7:30 p.m., fifth annual Garden Tractor Pull at 7 p.m., Ambassador Competition and variety show at 8 p.m., and a Texting Competition.

The main attraction Saturday is the Mammoth Parade which begins at 11:30 p.m.

There are also 4-H beef, dairy and sheep competitions beginning at 8 a.m., the Goulding Acres miniature horses, Snippitty Clown's face-painting and balloons, log-sawing and nail-driving, a karaoke singing competition at 1 p.m., car and truck show and antique tractor display, the largest exhibit of agricultural displays in the area, plus light and heavy horses, poultry show and T-bone show and sale.

Also on Saturday, the Glenn Boyd Band and The Pleats take to the main stage following the opening ceremonies; Andrea Zimmer (a.k.a. Scowling Owl Studio) performs "Mr. Grumpy Makes a Wrong Turn;" and there's the "Two Unrelated People Who Look Alike" contest.

Friday night and all day Saturday, Classic Amusements provides a midway. New this year, save $4 by purchasing in advance. Armbands available at www.classicamusements.ca - available until Thursday.

The fair wraps up Saturday night with the fall fair dance to "Moe 'N the Lawn" at the complex.
