Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS) of Saugeen Shores held its 122nd Annual Commencement on Friday, October 7th at Port Elgin's CAW Education Centre. Approximately 700 parents, grandparents, relatives and students filled the CAW auditorium to take part in, and watch, the 2010-2011 graduates receive their diplomas and special awards.
Principal Ron Code According to Principal Ron Code, 2010/11, the graduate rate for SDSS was 92 per cent (92%) or 13% above the Provincial average. As part of his message to graduate students, Code quoted renown author Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is not path and leave a trail." Blue Water School Board Trustee Kevin Larson told students and parents that, "... the school board exists solely for you ... for both your education and well being. Everyone, our teachers, assistants, principals, vice-principals all work for you, the students. I hope we have done the very best to prepare you for work or to prepare you for further education or to prepare you for apprenticeships and I hope that, through your goals and challenges, we have shown that we care."
