Brilliant Hunter's Moon

Tonight, October 11th, at 22 hundred hours and six minutes is the complete Full Hunters' Moon.

Also known as blood moon or sanguine moon, it is the first full moon after the harvest moon.

It is also known as Falling Leaves Moon in Chippewa and Ojibwa and 'When the Birds Fly South' by the Cree people.

It is named the 'Hunter's Moon' because of its bright light that enables hunters in Northern countries to see migrating birds.  The native peoples also used the light to track and kill their prey, stockpiling for the long winter.

The colour and temperatures in Dufferin County are glorious and exceptional this week.
