Concert raises more than $3,000 for Free The Children

The Pine River United Church Cherub Choir performs, under the direction of Patt Lowry, during the "Songs For Change" concert Saturday night at Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine

The "Songs For Change" concert held Saturday night at Knox Presbyterian Church has raised $3,068 for Free The Children, and donations are still coming in.

Organized by local musician Brontae Hunter, 11, and her friends in the St. Anthony's School student council, the show saw a dozen area performers take to the stage and entertain a large, appreciative audience.

Steven Travale of Kincardine was MC, and the performers included the following:

  • Devony House of Tiverton
  • Mary Cassidy of Port Elgin
  • Ben Turcotte of Port Elgin, who had just won the talent contest at Pumpkinfest
  • Natalie Irwin of Lucknow
  • Marc Glipo of Kincardine
  • Alexandra Chapleau of Kincardine
  • The Cherub Choir of Pine River United Church
  • Serena Rutledge of Ripley
  • Amy Kieffer, religious education consultant with the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board
  • Liz Miltenburg of Lucknow
  • Brontae Hunter of Kincardine

The show ended with a video, "What About Now" by  Daughtry.
