The 10th annual Health Care Heroes Radiothon raised $666,443 for the 16 hospital foundations in southwestern Ontario that took part in the event held at CKNX studios in Wingham Saturday.

That brings the 10-year total to just slightly under $7-million.

Gregg McClelland, radiothon chairman for the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, said that for the first time in eight years, Kincardine topped the list with $84,602.

"There is still money committed and coming in so we are in a good position for our equipment purchases," he said. "We are very proud and grateful."

The numbers for Kincardine included fund-raisers over the summer and the many individual donations from the generous and supporting community, said McClelland

"The donation that put us over the top was a cheque for $10,000 presented by Bart Cameron, newly-appointed chief executive officer of Bruce Telecom (as of Nov. 1)," said McClelland. "This is part of a five- year commitment. Many thanks and our congratulations to Bart."
