The final interview process is under way for a new chief administrative officer (CAO) and a new treasurer in the Municipality of Kincardine.

At the council meeting Wednesday night (Oct. 19), councillor Kenneth Craig said the team assigned to hire a new CAO had interviewed seven candidates and short-listed that number to three.

Consultant Nigel Bellchamber is conducting the final interviews Oct. 31, said Craig, and council will have an opportunity to meet the preferred candidate prior to any decision made to hire him/her.

"If you have any questions, talk to Donna (MacDougall)," he said. MacDougall is the clerk and acting CAO.

"We were pleased with all seven candidates," added Craig. "We are on track, on time and on budget."

MacDougall told council that the recruitment firm, Odgers Berndtson of Toronto, hired to find an interim treasurer, has come up with three candidates for the position. They were to be interviewed Friday (Oct. 21), and the successful candidate would start working next week.

The 2011 salary range for the treasurer position reflects $83,474 annual compensation. This translates into $6,956 per month plus benefits, or about $9,000.

The interim treasurer would receive accommodation and mileage expenses, but could use the locum house (for doctors working in Kincardine temporarily) if the commute back and forth to his/her home is significant.

The position is for a period of six months. The interim treasurer takes over from former treasurer Brenda French who is now the supervisor of revenue services and taxation.

New fire truck

During further general business at the council meeting, councillor Mike Leggett noted that the Kincardine fire station has received its new fire truck and everyone is encouraged to check it out.
