She's a three-time World Champion, eight-time National Champion and five-time Pan-American Champion and is also one of Bruce County's own, having been born in Wiarton.
Spencer also lived in Owen Sound and Big Trout Lake before moving to Windsor where she trained as a boxer and, today, she is a gold medal winner. At the Pan-Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, Spencer won one of two women's gold boxing medals, not accomplished since the 1970s and on Saturday (Oct.) she was also Canada's Flag Bearer. The 75kg amateur champion of the world is on the next rung to the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games but doesn't forget her roots and returns to Cape Croker where she mentors First Nations young people.
