A two-minute shopping spree (Cart Dash) was held Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. at Legault's Indpendent Grocers in Port Elgin.

The spree was the result of a winning bid for the donation by Leagault's Indpendent Grocers to the Southampton Rotary Dinner and Auction held at Chippewa Golf Club on Saturday, October 15.  The winning bid at the Auction went to Delores Sullivan of Sisters on Huron in Southampton.

Sullivan then gave her winning bid as a Christmas gift to her sister Andrea and husband Stefan Wist and their family, that includes four growing teenage boys.

Faster than lightning!

Stefan Wist was 'elected' to complete the Dash and as the countdown ended, he took off in a flash to fill the cart.  As he sprinted through aisles, followed by three of his sons, he filled the cart with staples such as extra large bags of rice, coffee and roasts but didn't neglect to collect some of the new Black Label Gourmet items.

At the end of the 'Cart Dash' spree, the cart went through an audited checkout where Wist saw, to his surprise, that he had filled his cart with $550.79 worth of groceries.

It's official!
