What a nice weekend to get some more work done! We're glad to see the corn and beans being harvested - be careful out there everyone, it sure gets dark early and there's lots of machinery on the roads. Birthday greetings to Margaret Thompson who celebrated her 70th birthday at the Legion in Ripley with friends and family last Sunday. The Ripley Curling Club brunch last Sunday was well-attended and the selection of desserts was excellent as always! Cheryl Bridge spent a couple of days in Owen Sound with her mother, Audrey Rivett, of Dungannon. They also had a surprise 80th birthday party for Audrey at the home of Wendy and Jim Hooisma in Fisherman's Cove. Carman Bridge and Cheryl's sister, Diane, and husband Ron Ellis of Auburn, were also in attendance. Congratulations to the Bruce Federation of Agriculture celebrating its 70th anniversary! Friday evening was the annual meeting with Kevin Stewart as guest speaker at the Ripley Complex. John Gillespie was acclaimed as president for 2012 , first-vice is Bill McCulloch of Elderslie Township and second-vice is Pat Jilleson of Saugeen Township. One of the resolutions put forth to the OFA Convention is on the identification and treatment of Lyme disease. The St. Andrew's United Church Bazaar and the Huron Lakeshore Friendship Club Craft Show and Bake Sale were Saturday. Both were well-attended and folks enjoyed the preserves, crafts, lunch and shopping opportunity. Jim and Fran Farrell visited recently with Len and Karen Farrell and Mike and Joan Haelzle of Mildmay. Marilyn Reid and Janet Nixon attended the Women's Institute Rose program - Learn, Lunch, Laugh - in Owen Sound Saturday. Wilma and Cecil Sutton attended the ordination service for Kenneth Craig at the Kincardine Baptist Church Sunday.

Mary Black and Betty Scott had supper with Mary Anne Kukoly Sunday evening. Christine (Clifford) Gemmell will be the guest speaker Wednesday evening at the Purple Grove Community Centre, 7:30 p.m. Christine will be talking about her experiences in Japan. Everyone is welcome.
