Midgets
2-1-1 in Collingwood
The Kincardine Miller Insurance midgets played well on the weekend, just missing a berth in the finals at the Collingwood tournament. Kincardine skated to a 3-1 win Friday afternoon against the host Collingwood team, but was defeated, 3-1, by Bracebridge Friday night. Saturday, Payton Dunlop scored a game-winning goal in the dying minutes as Kincardine beat Lincoln, 1-0. Trevor Ammerman had a shutout for the Kinucks who outplayed the opposition but had trouble finding the back of the net. Saturday night, Kincardine faced Thorold for a right to play in the final. Because of the points system, Kincardine needed a victory to go on, while Thorold just needed a tie. Gerrit Satosek opened the scoring early in the game, but Thorold drew even just minutes later. Kincardine had a goal called back, and had some great chances, but nobody else could find the back of the net in this game and it ended 1-1. The Miller Midgets will be in Goderich Wednesday night (Oct. 26) for WOAA regular season action prior to the Archie McMillan tournament this weekend in Kincardine. The Kinucks will open the weekend with a Friday night contest against East Lambton at 8 p.m. Walkerton will play Kincardine at 9:20 a.m., and the schedule will be determined from there. The action continues all weekend long until Sunday afternoon’s championship game.
