The Winterhawks defeated the Walkerton Capitals by
a score of 6-1 on Saturday night.
Bryan Kazarian had a four point night as the 'Hawks
ran their season record to 7-0 and staying atop
the North Division standings. Kazarian scored his third
of the season, an unassisted, shorthanded marker to
get the Winterhawks on the scoresheet midway
through the first.
Ryan Fry, who was an assist shy of the 'Gordie Howe
hat trick', put the Winterhawks up by a pair with his
second of the season, a power-play goal assisted by
Trevor Smith.
The 'Hawks got their second shorthanded goal of
the night when Curtis Johnston scored his fifth of the
season, with assists going to Kazarian and Trevor
Smith.
Walkerton's Cam McDonald narrowed the margin
to 3-1 with the Capital's lone goal of the night but
Johnston restored the three -goal cushion with four
seconds left in the second period with his second of
the night and his team-leading sixth of the season.
Matt Turcotte, with his fifth of the season, put the
Winterhawks up 5-1 in the third and Jordan Lang,
assisted by Turcotte and Shane Bainbridge rounded
out the scoring.
The Winterhawks were assessed 33 minutes in
penalties including a five-minute fighting major to Fry
and a 10 minute misconduct to Kazarian.
The 'Hawks next game is at The Plex on Saturday,
Nov. 12 when they host the Ripley Wolves.
