Together, three organizations within the Municipality of
Kincardine have solidified a stronger working relationship.

At a presentation during last night's Kincardine council meeting (Nov. 2), the Penetangore Regional Economic Development Corporation (PREDC), Kincardine Business Improvement Area (BIA) and the
Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce presented council with an outline of the Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU).

As the development of the Kincardine Integrated Community Sustainability Plan progresses, recognition for the need for groups to work together and provide various services to the community, has been identified.

As such, discussions have been held with the three organizations to determine ways improvements can be made to develop a stronger working relationship.

Once the sustainability plan is completed, in early 2012, there will be a need for groups to work together in order to co-ordinate and implement the recommendations
identified within the plan.

“This MOU has been prepared as a need identified within the PREDC Business Plan and reaffirmed through
the sustainability planning process," says Gerry Taylor, executive director of PREDC. "It provides the foundation to build a solid working relationship by establishing a 'Team Kincardine' approach to addressing community needs.”

"The initiative to join forces with the BIA, the chamber and the PREDC will be a win-win for Kincardine and
District," adds chamber president Bob Simpson. "To go forward as one voice can be challenged. To go forward with three voices makes challenge more difficult. Let's make it happen."

"The research and studies, including those recently completed by the BIA, clearly indicate that an economically-healthy and vibrant downtown is vital to the overall well-being of a community and will be a key component in defining that community's identity," says BIA president Cheryl Goetz. "The BIA looks to this partnership with the PREDC and the chamber as a positive, proactive step toward a stronger, sustainable community as a whole."

Based in Kincardine, the three organizations will be working together on a significant collaborative
community undertaking that will be identified through the sustainability planning process.
