About 100 people gather for the Kincardine Legion's Remembrance Day service in Tiverton Sunday afternoon

It was perfect weather for a Remembrance Day service - warm, sunny and windy, with not a snowflake in the sky.

That's what greeted about 100 people who gathered Sunday afternoon at Lions Memorial Park in Tiverton for the Kincardine Legion's Remembrance Day service.

Among the crowd were Kincardine Legion members, the Kincardine Air Cadets, and dignitaries.

The service began with the playing of "O Canada," followed by two minutes of silence. Ray Kester played "Last Post," followed by "The Lament" by Jennifer Farrell of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band, and then Kester played "Reveille."

About 25 wreaths were placed at the Cenotaph, including one for the Dominion of Canada by Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb, one in memory of fallen comrades by veteran John Smith, the Municipality of Kincardine by deputy mayor Anne Eadie, and Bruce County by Kincardine mayor Larry Kraemer.

A special wreath was placed by Jorjah and Chayse Van Vliet, 8, of Kitchener, in memory of their great-grandfather, war veteran Ernie Greer of Tiverton.
