Ripley Wolves lose two on the weekend

The Ripley Wolves lost both games on the weekend, 5-2 against Durham and 8-1 against Saugeen Shores, in Senior "AA" hockey action.

Friday night on home ice, the Wolves kept the game tight, with the first period ending in a 2-2 tie.

Nick Locking scored on the powerplay, assisted by Jeremy McQuillin and Nathan Gavey; and Devin Kemp fired in a short-handed goal, assisted by Shea Armstrong and Derek Regier.

However, the Thundercats owned the rest of the game, notching two unanswered goals in the second, and another in the third, to take a 5-2 win.

The Wolves took a beating from Saugeen Shores  Saturday night in Port Elgin, as the Winterhawks soared over Ripley, 8-1.

Saugeen Shores took a commanding, 4-1 lead by the end of the first period, with Ripley's one and only goal coming from Nathan Gavey, from Darrin Gavey and Derek Regier.

 

After a scoreless second period, the Winterhawks fired in four unanswered goals to take the 8-1 win.

The Wolves face-off against the Winterhawks again, at the Ripley Arena, tomorrow night (Nov. 18), at 8:30 p.m.

This is "Minor Hockey Night" and all players who wear their jerseys to the game get in free.
