Bobbi Switzer is carving a niche for herself in Kincardine, with all things Scottish. The chainsaw sculptor from Lion's Head is working on a new creation, carving a Highland Dancer out of a stump west of the Bruce Power Training Centre (former W.E. Thompson Public School) on Princes Street. The wood carving faces Victoria Park where the annual Kincardine Scottish Festival and the Mass Band event are held every summer. Switzer has a couple of other carvings in Kincardine: the Lighthouse across from Knox Presbyterian Church, and the Scottish Piper on the front yard at the home of Norm and Shirley Annetts on Broadway. She also has numerous carvings in other towns in Bruce and Grey counties. Recently, Switzer moved to new home on 50 acres of land where she has an outdoor gallery in the summer, displaying her work. She now lives on Cherryhill Road, RR 1, Lion's Head, just off Highway 6, four minutes north of Ferndale.
