Plans are already underway for the 29th annual Port Elgin Rotary Home and Recreation Show, the first weekend in May, 2012.

Event Chair Bob Lunney has announced the appointment of two Vendor Coordinators for the event.  Rotarians Doug Freibruger and Brian Shular take over the duties immediately.

“With the home show growing, event coordinators are absolutely imperative for the Home and Rec Show if it's to be a success and the increase to two coordinators will help bring Saugeen Shores and area visitors the best,  merchants have to offer,” said Lunney.

Doug Freiburger says, “We have 80-spaces to rent and last year we had 65 vendors as many chose to take more than one spot.  We are striving for a good cross-section of product and service providers that address the home reno and decorating needs of our visitors, along with information on leisure and recreational activities and programs.”

Vendor spaces are being rented out now and Brian Shular says they're looking forward to having some new participants in the 2012 show along with some other changes.

“The Port Elgin Rotary Home and Recreation Show is a major fund-raiser for the local club, having raised some $75,000 in the last eight years,” said club President Bill Welsh.

The home show will run Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 4th, 5th and 6th, 2012 at the Plex in Port Elgin.

The Port Elgin Rotary Club is made up of over 50 members who regularly donate to worthwhile projects in Saugeen Shores, including the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation through the Rotary Huron Shore Run and muscular dystrophy research through the Jeff Preston Celebrity Golf Tournament.
