The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 440, Ripley Huron hosted a Remembrance Day banquet Nov. 11. It was a great honour to have this branch's only surviving charter member and Second World War veteran present at both the Cenotaph service and the banquet. Doug MacDonald received a certificate of appreciation for all his years of service and volunteering to the branch and the community, by Legion president John Chatham. The Legion was also very honored to have four charter members of the Ripley Legion Ladies' Auxiliary present at the banquet. They were Donelda Pollard, Doris Walden, Lois Pollock and Rita MacDonald.
