The Kincardine Community Singers will hold their Christmas concert closer to Christmas Day this year.

The show is slated for Dec. 10-11, 8 p.m., at Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine, a week later than in previous years.

''That first weekend in December is always a whirlwind with the Santa Claus Parade, the Kincardine Theatre Guild show, and other events,'' says choir director Patt Lowry. ''Knox Church was gracious enough to allow us to move to the next weekend, and as it turns out, the church's Sunday School concert will be at that time too, so that group can utilize our risers.''

Joining Lowry are about 70 singers, talented accompanist John Low and equally-talented former accompanist Pat Fox who is playing for some of the small ensembles. Karen Weber will be on bass, and Dwayne Ellis on drums.

''We are thrilled to have Jennifer Carey Hunter as our guest soloist,'' says Lowry. ''And the Pine River Cherub Choir will be joining us for a couple of songs - this group ranges in age from four to 12.''

The concert is entitled, ''Gloria,'' because Mozart's "Gloria" is one of the choir's favourite pieces, says Lowry. ''That's quite surprising since it's sung in Latin which can be a struggle for some of us!''

There will be some familiar carols and some new secular pieces, a beautiful Gospel arrangement of ''O Holy Night,'' as well as some small group and solo singing.

''We are hoping there's something for everyone,'' says Lowry.

The concert is Dec. 10-11, 8 p.m., at Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine, which is wheelchair accessible with an elevator just inside the doors adjacent to the parking lot.

Admission is $12 in advance, $15 at the door, and $5 for children. Tickets are available at Jerome Flowers and Gifts in Kincardine, and The Village Flower Shop in Ripley.
