Neva McVittie and husband Duncan about to celebrate retirement

After 43 years, Neva McVittie has retired as one of the longest employees at Saugeen First Nations.

"I started working here in 1969 as Health Clerk," said McVittie, "and have been part of three moves to three different buildings until this one (Saugeen Medical Centre).  The people I've worked with here are wonderful and I am really going to miss them."

Cake, gifts and flowers were the order of the day

Corrie Charlton (L) started her first day at Saugeen as McVittie left after 43 years

When asked what she would do in retirement, McVittie said that she and her husband, Duncan, teach square dancing three nights a week in Lucknow and Kincardine and will begin in Owen Sound in the fall of next year.  In addition, she is learning to knit and crochet.
