The December meeting of the Reid’s Corners Women’s Institute was a day of food, fun and fellowship with plenty of laughter as well.

The highlight was a demonstration of Christmas decoration-making by Amanda Pearce of The Village Flower Shop in Ripley.

Under her capable hands, a beautiful centrepiece took shape, first showing how attractive a centrepiece can be with just greenery and a candle and then adding flowers to make it even more beautiful. This centerpiece was later won by Bonnie Cole.

Amanda’s next demonstration featured making the new large bows which are so popular. From a roll of netting, first using the full width then the material folded in half she very quickly had bows made. Later, these beautiful bows were won by Nancy Copeland, Ruth Anne Robinson and Lucille Fischer.

Under Linda Campbell’s guidance a bountiful buffet had been laid out. To this was added Sharon Courtney’s piping hot turkey with all the trimmings – a delicious meal enjoyed by all.

Each member received her Christmas gift from her secret pal. Names were drawn for a new pal for next year.
