Kincardine has a new chief administrative officer (CAO).

In closed session last night (Dec. 7), Kincardine council agreed to hire Murray Clarke, current CAO of the Town of Sidney, British Columbia.

Once it returned to open session, council approved the appointment, effective Feb. 6, 2012.

Clarke is no stranger to Ontario, having also served as CAO for the Town of Bracebridge and the Township of Erin.

Over his career as a senior municipal manger, Clarke has been active with municipal associations and in programs that develop other municipal professionals.

“We are pleased that the community has been able to attract someone of Mr. Clarke's calibre and we all look
forward to his arrival early in the New Year,” said mayor Larry Kraemer.

Former Kincardine CAO, John deRosenroll, left the post in August, taking on the job of CAO in Perth, Ontario, to be closer to family.
