Owen Thorn's goal just 28 seconds into the game foreshadowed what was to come in Red's 4-1 victory, but Black goalie Gordie Reaume did his best to alter the outcome Saturday morning in Novice House League action at the Davidson Centre, Kincardine. The Red team's scoring machine, Thorn capitalized on a nice rush early in the game to beat the Black squad's goalie, but Reaume stood tall, keeping his team in the game. Red goalie Ryan Tanner thwarted several Black advances, including nice scoring attempts from Caydence Gibson and Cameron Renaud as the game remained 1-0 until late in the second period. Thorn scored his second goal with a nifty move at the blueline before beating Reaume to make it 2-0, but Renaud responded in short order, picking up a loose puck after a scramble in front and beating Tanner to make it a one-goal game once again. Red's Thorn proved too much to handle, scoring his third and fourth goals in the third period to salt away the win for his team. Both
teams
displayed some excellent defensive-zone effort with Black's MacKenzie
Kuntz and Red's Lauren Lee and Noah McArthur making standout plays.
McArthur's was a game-changer as he swept the puck off the goal line
early in the second period. ![]() In Novice House League action last Saturday (Dec. 10), Red forward Kayne Lee (R) stickhandles his way through traffic in a 6-3 loss to Blue at the Davidson Centre photo by Ian Brooks |
