It was an early Christmas present for two departments at the Kincardine hospital as they each received $500, compliments of the Genie Awards, presented by the Kincardine hospital auxiliary. Ginny Ross as the "Genie" arrived at the hospital Thursday afternoon, dressed in her fancy garb and holding her lamp. She was joined by several members of the auxiliary, who provided a fancy cake and refreshments to celebrate. Kate Kincaid, director of patient care for the Kincardine hospital, drew the two winners: Health Records and the Operating Room. The Health Records department requested the money to pay for a scanner and keyboard trays. Accepting the award were Susan Steffler, Cathy Page and Karen Minty. The Operating Room department requested the money to purchase an iPod Nano and a two-speaker dock for the iPod, to provide music in the recovery room. "We think music will be nice for patients and staff to listen to, as well as assisting with privacy. Studies have shown that music in the post-operative areas reduces anxiety and improves patient outcomes." Accepting the award was Christie Graham.
