We wrote an article about a software product called Dropbox that lets you backup and share files on the Cloud. Just before Christmas, we heard on CNN that most of the Dropbox staff was told to stop work and were dispatched out to recruit at good universities. It seems that there is a talent shortage in downtown San Francisco for people with computer skills. It's very interesting to look at the faces and ages of the present staff of Dropbox. Take a minute to look at 91 faces and backgrounds (opens in a new window.... just close it after viewing) They are a private company started by very young people. Looking at the staff, it is a tribute to youth and a 'get it done spirit'. If you hover your mouse over the pictures, you will get their backgrounds. Notice the diversity. They share youth and good educations. They have a wonderful product and at present have 45 million customers. Let's hope they do well and either go public or get purchased by a big company like Google or Microsoft who are very active in the Cloud. For a long time computer technology was hyped, but now the productivity is really making a difference. It's changing job patterns dramatically. Companies can do more with less, so jobs have to change in order to accommodate.
