A Kincardine singer-songwriter has entered a national music competition and she needs voters to go on-line and help her win.

Jennifer Joyce, 34, has lived in Kincardine for the past five years and goes by the artist name "Embolden." She writes and sings her own songs and recently collaborated with Jamie Aplin (Thousand Foot Krutch) at his studio in Owen Sound to write five songs for her album, "Interruptions."

Joyce is entered in the RadioStar Supernova National Talent Search, featured on-line at www.radiostar.supernova.com

Fans can vote for her and her band, once per day, from now until Jan. 16, 2012. You must live in Canada and provide some information and an E-mail address in order to vote.

"I'm listed under the name, 'Jennifer Joyce,' and once you click on my profile, you'll see 'Embolden'," says Joyce "That's where people can vote."

The site is easy to navigate and if you have a Facebook profile, signing up and voting are a snap.

The national grand prize winner of the RadioStar Supernova contest receives $10,000 cash plus studio time, equipment and exposure to play live at Music Week in Toronto in March, 2012. The runner-up receives $2,500 cash and studio time and equipment. There are also regional prizes of musical equipment.

"This is a great opportunity to get someone's career going," says Joyce.

The top 50 finalists will be announced Jan. 30 to Feb. 28, 2012, and the grand prize winner, runner-up and regional winners will be announced March 1, 2012.

Born and raised in Sarnia, Joyce had three primary interests in life: music, martial arts and dance. Thirteen years of her life was spent training and teaching martial art which she loved.

"The past 10 years, I've focused more on dance, singing and writing songs," she says. "Recently, Jamie Aplin agreed to co-write and produce my first professional album, 'Interruptions,' at the Drove Studio in Owen Sound. It was an amazing experience. There is nothing like creating material with other people who also have a passion and desire for the same things in life, especially music. I still continue to write in melody and word in hopes of collaborating again with great people who share a common heart."

Joyce moved to Kincardine with her husband who works at Bruce Power. She is currently working at the Kincardine Vet Clinic.
