There are advantages and disadvantages to living in a smaller rural  community.

Firstly, the disadvantage is ... everyone knows everyone else's business (or think they do), and the advantage is ... everyone knows everyone else's business (or think they do).

Often, it means that a community comes together when it learns of someone in need and, sometimes, it means that a rumour is just that ... a rumour.

Living in a lakeshore community, there is often 'scuttlebutt' and, in Southampton [Saugeen Shores], the most recent story circulating through the 'morning coffee groups' is that the retirement home of Hampton Court, owned by Revera Corp., has been sold.

Although only a rumour, the congregation of an inspection company truck, an engineering vehicle, an asbestos specialty company and several individuals in front of Hampton Court Retirement home recently, would seem to lend credence that something is happening with the facility.

Although the rumours are circulating, they are unsubstantiated.  Saugeen Times will endeavour to discover the accuracy of the rumours.
