Construction figures hold steady in Kincardine and Huron-Kinloss

Construction continues on this new home being built on Sideroad 10, between the 12th Concession and the Southline in Huron-Kinloss Township

Both Kincardine and Huron-Kinloss saw steady construction figures through fall of last year and both expected a strong finish to 2011.

In Huron-Kinloss Township, chief building official Matt Farrell said it was a good year, with a few more residential permits to be issued before the end of December.

Figures for October and November were down significantly from 2010, but held steady through the year.

November saw 10 permits issued with a total construction value of $341,064. Of those, one was for a new home, valued at $220,000. To date, permits have been issued for 37 new homes in 2011.

The year-to-date figures saw 155 permits issued with a total value of $13.3-million. That's down from 2010, when 202 permits had been issued to the end of November, with a value of $23-million.

October saw 13 permits issued for a total construction value of $821,700. Of those, two were for new homes, with a total value of $760,000.

In Kincardine, the numbers were also steady throughout 2011, with a total of 245 permits issued to the end of November, with a value of $21.4-million, compared to 259 permits issued in 2010, with a value of $25.-million.

 

November saw 19 permits issued, with a total construction value of $2.6-million. Of those, three were new homes, with a value of $1.185-million, and one permit was for the Inn on the Harbour hotel commercial addition, with a value of $1-million.

October saw 24 permits issued, with a total construction value of $2.3-million. Of those three were for new homes, with a value of $735,000, and one was for the Montgomery Ford commercial addition, with a value of $1.2-million.
