It was a quick 60 seconds, but Lana Pollock of Ripley managed to scoop up $287.52 in groceries during the shopping spree at Kincardine Sobeys Wednesday evening. The shopping spree was one of the prizes in the second annual Kincardine Hospital Lottery, run by the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation. "It was pretty exciting," said Lana. "My mom and I checked out the aisles ahead of time and I was aiming for the meat section and the pasta and rice." With guidance from two Sobeys employees, Lana dashed to the meat department and filled the bottom of the shopping cart with items, before racing to the pasta aisle and adding bags of spaghetti, boxes of rice and more. Finally, with 10 seconds remaining, she ran to the check-out counter and grabbed a huge gift basket from beside the till to complete her shopping spree. Lana, 19, is studying kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario in London. |
