OVERNIGHT VEHICLE ENTRY (WALKERTON, ON) – Jan. 9, at 7:01 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received a report of an overnight vehicle entry, while the vehicle was parked at a residence along Miller Street in Walkerton. Protection initiative:
SUSPENDED DRIVER CAUGHT AVOIDING RIDE CHECK (WALKERTON, ON) – Jan. 7, at 1:50 p.m., members of the South Bruce OPP set up a RIDE checkpoint on Yonge Street North, near Lobie’s Park, in Walkerton. At 3:02 p.m., officers noticed a silver Chevrolet Cavalier try to avoid the checkpoint. The vehicle was stopped and officers learned the driver’s licence was under suspension. 30-year-old Ryan GIRODAT of Owen Sound has been charged with Drive under suspension, Drive with no insurance, Use unauthorized plate and Operate unsafe vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court Feb. 21 to answer to the charges. The Cavalier was towed from the scene OVERNIGHT BREAK, ENTER AND THEFT (WALKERTON, ON) – Jan. 7, at 10:07 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received a report of a break, enter and theft at Holland Household Market on Durham Street East in Walkerton. Sometime between 11 p.m. Jan. 6, and 10 a.m. Jan. 7,
the business was forcibly entered through a side window.
The stolen property includes a quantity of cash, a brown cash box,
seven wrist watches, six pocket watches (two of the pocket watches have
Victorian-era pictures on them) and a quantity of change from a
charitable fund-raising collection box. The value of the stolen
items is estimated to be $746. IMPAIRED DRIVER FACING COURT DATE (TIVERTON, ON) – Jan. 6, at 1:50 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along King Street North, Tiverton, stopped a red Ford pick-up. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. 54-year-old Brent NEWNS of Bruce Township has been charged with Operate Over 80 Milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court Feb. 27 to answer to the charge.

ARREST MADE IN CAR THEFT (KINCARDINE, ON) – Police have made an arrest in connection with the theft of a vehicle Jan. 2 on Huron Terrace, Kincardine. Jan. 5, at 11:40 a.m., the stolen Chrysler Concorde was recovered. The South Bruce OPP and South Bruce OPP Crime Unit continued the investigation which resulted in the arrest of 23-year-old Matthew NICKEL Jan. 7 for Theft Under and Breach of Probation. He was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing Jan. 8.The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122.
