Residents of the Kincardine area were digging out from under a major snowstorm Tuesday morning (Jan. 3).

The cold weather, high wind and extensive snowfall arrived overnight New Year's Day, and continued through Monday, Jan. 2.

The blowing and drifting snow caused poor visibility on Highway 21, and the South Bruce OPP closed the road Tuesday at 8 a.m. It was reopened at 11 a.m.

Most major highways, Bruce County roads and sideroads in the area were snow-covered and slippery, and motorists were reminded to adjust their driving to the changing road and weather conditions in the interest of public safety.

Many people finally had a chance to try out their new snowblowers, snow shovels, skis and toboggans. And the sun finally came out Tuesday afternoon.

The forecast calls for more snow and flurries, but warmer temperatures.
