Laura Haigh,t the organizer of our New Year's Eve party and dance, along with her many volunteers, would like to thank all those from our community who attended this sold-out event and made it a great success. DJ James Taylor, with his music, kept the dance floor bouncing the entire evening. Also, there were many appreciative comments regarding the evening lunch. In conjunction with the free taxi ride home, made available to patrons, an enjoyable time was had by all. So, if you missed out last year keep us in mind for 2012’s New Year’s Eve party.

During the school holiday break, the Air Cadet Typhoon Squadron (sponsored by the Kincardine Legion) was busy in our hall practising its target-shooting skills on several occasions. The squadron is in the process of selecting a team to represent Kincardine against other Air Cadet squadrons in a target-shooting tournament scheduled in February. We wish them success. Just another way our Legion contributes to the local community.

Two of our executives need volunteers to assist in upcoming events. Wendy Dyer is looking for a French-speaking person to assist in judging francophone competitors in the Public Speaking contest for youth to be held here at the Branch Feb. 11 (another Legion-sponsored event.) Please leave your name at the Legion office, 519-396-2372, or contact Wendy at 519-396-4943. Laura Haight would appreciate the names of volunteers willing to help run a Saturday afternoon meat draw during this winter period. These are for individual dates when you may be able to provide assistance.

The Super Bowl Football Party will be held Sunday,
Feb. 5, in our newly-renovated and decorated Club Room. Plan to come out, bring your friends and enjoy our 54-inch television screen. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy. Watch future columns for more detailed arrangements.

Last but not least, a reminder to all Legion members that our first General Meeting for 2012 will be held Sunday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m., in the Legion Hall. Please try to attend and support your Branch.
